Secure Sockets Layer, or SSL, is a protocol that is used to encode the information exchanged between a web server and its users. The practical application of using an SSL is to protect the data which clients submit on your website - a login page, a payment page if you run an Internet store, and so forth. Any data they enter in any box on the site shall be submitted securely to the server, so their login or payment data shall be protected from being accessed by unauthorized individuals. Usually, an SSL certificate needs a dedicated IP address to be set up, meaning that the overall cost for your online presence will be bigger. While this might not exactly be an issue for a larger firm, it may matter for a non-profit organization or a small online shop that doesn't generate big revenue if additional money should be spent. That's the reason why we've taken advantage of an extension known as Server Name Indication (SNI) and we've made it possible to use a shared server IP address to install an SSL certificate.

Shared SSL IP in Shared Hosting

A shared IP can be employed for any SSL certificate, irrespective if you buy it from us or from some other seller and regardless of the shared hosting service you have on our end. If you get the SSL through us, you'll come across this option on the certificate order page within your hosting CP where you can also take advantage of the 1-click automatic configuration option we offer. If the latter is chosen within the SSL order wizard, our system will install and set up everything for you via the specially configured server shared IP, so once you order and approve the SSL, there shall not be anything else to do on your end. You'll be able to save the cash that you will otherwise have to pay for a dedicated IP address and the SSL will function in the same exact way, so any information that the site visitors submit shall be encrypted. The only difference is that if you enter the shared IP address instead of your domain inside a web browser, the site will not appear.

Shared SSL IP in Semi-dedicated Hosting

You can use a shared IP address for an SSL obtained through us or through any other vendor with any of our Linux semi-dedicated hosting. The setup is quite simple and if you acquire the certificate from our company, you can also benefit from our SSL wizard where with only a few clicks you'll be able to select the SSL to be installed automatically for the specific domain or subdomain on the shared IP address that's configured to be employed for this specific purpose. This option shall save you time and work as you'll not have to do anything after you approve the SSL via e mail, not mentioning the money you'll save for the IP on a monthly basis. Your website will be secure and any customer will feel assured that their info shall be protected as using a shared IP address doesn't affect the adequate operation of the certificate and the only difference from using a dedicated one is that the IP address cannot be used as a URL to access your website.
