Transferring an existing domain entails changing the registrar that provides the domain registration service, so after the transfer itself, you’ll have to manage things like renewal fees or DNS record modifications through the new company. The transfer procedure is standard with most generic and country-code Top-Level Domain extensions. Certain country-code extensions are more specific and entail different procedures, but in the general case transferring a domain name involves a few basic procedures and one of them is unlocking the domain name. The domain lock is a security feature, which is being adopted by more and more domain registry organizations. It is a default feature supported by all generic top-level domain names. If a domain is locked, it won’t be possible to initiate a transfer process, so nobody can even attempt to steal your domain. The domain lock can be removed only through the account where the domain is registered in the first place and all new domain names that support this functionality are locked by default when they are registered.

Registrar Lock in Shared Hosting

The Hepsia Control Panel, which comes with each and every shared hosting package that we offer, will give you absolute control over your domains. You’ll see all domains registered through our company conveniently listed in alphabetical order in a separate section of the Control Panel. Those whose extensions support the domain lock option will have a small padlock icon next to them. By clicking the icon, you can see if the particular domain name is locked or unlocked and you can alter the present status by clicking again – the procedure is as simple as that. You will not have to wait for the change to take effect or for our company to do anything, as the change of the status takes effect instantly, even if you notice something else on WHOIS lookup websites. After all, it takes time for such sites to ‘refresh’ the details that they show.

Registrar Lock in Semi-dedicated Hosting

Administering your domain names with our company is incredibly easy and the registrar lock option is not an exception. If you have a semi-dedicated server account, you will be able to administer the domains registered through us using the very same Control Panel via which you’ll administer your hosting account. For your convenience’s sake, the domain names will be shown in alphabetical order and on the right-hand side you’ll see a padlock icon in case the given domain supports the registrar lock feature. If you click on the icon, you’ll see whether the specific domain is locked or not and you’ll be able to update this status by clicking once again. The status will be changed right away and you’ll be able to initiate the transfer without the need to wait for the change to be displayed on WHOIS lookup sites or for our company to do anything on our end.
